About David Steinke

I grew up doodling and sketching on whatever I could get my hands on. Somehow that passion evolved into making print ads,
commercials, apps and websites.

I cut my teeth as an art director at Bozell Jacobs and Bailey Lauerman & Associates, both in Nebraska. While at Bailey, I worked on
Union Pacific, Raytheon and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. I also gained a true appreciation for design theory,
the power of visual language and what it meant to create and polish an idea from conception all the way through its execution.

After a few years at Bailey, I left the craziness of Nebraska for the family-friendly town of Los Angeles, lured by Crispin Porter + Bogusky.
While there, I worked on Aeromexico, Fox and Method Soaps. I helped win the Borders Books account and the work was awarded by
Cannes, The One Show, Communication Arts, Beldings, and the Clios.

After two years at CP+B, my next stop was TBWA/Chiat Day. I worked on Nissan, MapQuest, LeapFrog and Method Soaps (again),
where I created work recognized by the Kelly Awards.

I rejoined Crispin in 2007 in the Boulder office. I have been fortunate to have spent a total eight plus years at CP+B, working on
some of the world’s most respected brands. I’ve had the opportunity to work for, and learn from, creative minds such as Alex Bogusky,
Andrew Keller and Rob Reilly.

As VP/Creative Director, I’ve worked on Burger King, Sprite, Coke Zero, Domino’s, and three and a half years helping lead the
Microsoft Windows account. I was instrumental in launching Windows’ global "I'm a PC" reboot, and the "Laptop Hunters" campaign.
Recently, I’ve run the team that re-launched Windows Phones around the world. Our most recent campaign, featuring the spots
‘Showtime’ and ‘Recital’, has garnered over 15 million hits on YouTube and has thrust Windows Phone into the smartphone conversation.

I’m an enthusiastic leader and dedicated craftsman, and as a nice bonus, a perennial award winner. When I’m not immersed in making
ad-like objects, I can still be found doodling, painting or out somewhere with a camera in my hand. I also devote time training
my two sons to become pro freestyle skiers or starting linebackers for the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. I’m still in negotiations
with my lovely wife on these last two endeavors.
